An evening surrounded by Hawaii's majestic mountains
The Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau celebrates the beauty and stories of Kalāhuipuaʻa, the "piko" (center) of the majestic mountains of Haleakalā, Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualālai.
Join us weekly for a delicious feast featuring the finest island cuisine, including ahi poke, teriyaki chicken, and coffee-rubbed roast strip loin, all served at an extensive buffet. Experience a traditional imu ceremony, where a pig is prepared underground with banana leaves and hot rocks. Return in the evening to see the unveiling of the oven and learn about this cooking method, while enjoying a complimentary welcome cocktail, a keiki buffet, and delicious desserts.
Mauka to Makai
Preliminary activities include Hawaiian makahiki games, which are played on the Hoaloha lawn. Guests are greeted with live music and hula performances during dinner. As torches light up the night sky, the main production begins! This event takes place under the stars on the ʻili kūpono (land area) of Kalāhuipuaʻa. The celebration continues with stories about the five mountains that surround us and the history of Kalāhuipuaʻa. The friendships formed, the delicious food savored, the music, hula, and a spectacular fireknife finale all contribute to making this gathering at Mauna Lani a cherished memory.

The Location
Kalāhuipua‘a is a raw and potent paradise, the piko (center) of Hawaii's five great volcanoes, and the point where volcanic plains meet the shimmering sea. The Mauna Lani, Auberge Collection sits within Kalāhuipua‘a, a sacred realm whose astonishing natural beauty is equaled only by its primal, magnetic power. To walk this storied coastline, breathe the salt air, and swim in the crystalline waters is to feel the same mana—spiritual energy—that first drew people here centuries ago. This is where ancient Hawaiians mastered the art of aquaculture and where King Kamehameha came to recuperate and work in the fishponds.
